A Guide On How To Snowboard On Your Winter Ski Vacation

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

There are several ways to learn how to snowboard, the exercises you can do, cool tricks you can try, and forms you need to focus on. There are also quite a few guides for skiing as well – think of this guide as your own personal Colorado ski lesson. The Basics: One of the first few things you will learn when you start to snowboard is the simple process of strapping in, standing up and adjusting your position. You should feel comfortable in the position you are in. Hopefully you chose the right gear such as board and shoes for the board. If you still need help with this, I suggest visiting a specialty store that specializes in snowboarding or heli ski. Manners: When it comes to carrying your snowboard you need to make sure that you watch out for people and other objects on the slope. The last thing you want to do is injure yourself or someone else. This means no goofing around, and always having your eyes in front of you. In the same way that people take their turns in a car at a stoplight, you need to take your turn and pay attention when it comes to the slopes. Skating: This is a really novice position, it means keeping one foot in the boot and one foot out of the boot. This is a good position to follow when you are going on flat areas or sections or when you are getting on or off a chairlift. Moving up the slope: While most places have chairlifts, you can also move up the slope on your own as well – as long as it’s not too steep. This can be done by slowly inching your way up the slope, feet in boots, and hands on ground in front of you. Traversing: This is how you will essentially control your speed on the board, it will also help you to learn how to balance yourself as well. The heel side is all about standing on your board in a “side-ward” position. Try leaning to each side slowly and see how quickly you can regain your composure. Linking Turns: This is obviously how you are going to link together your different turns. Your body should be to the side, along with your snowboard or snowcat skiing facing forward. Be sure to bend your knees! Your body (feet and legs) should be outward when your body (waist, chest, shoulders) are inward and vice versa. This is going to help keep your balance off kilter. Side-slipping (heel side & toe side): This is all about controlling your descent down the slope. The heel side is used with the heel or back of the board whereas the toe side is used with the toe or front of your board. Overall, this is about slowing down and “breaking” to a halt. Definitely a good thing to learn how to do! Hopefully these few steps and exercises will help you out on your next trip on a winter cat skiing vacation or snowboarding exhibition! Snowboarding and skiing can be a lot of fun, but as said above, it’s also important that you follow certain skill sets and that you practice. Be sure to check out some of the Colorado ski packages and Colorado snowboard packages online! And remember to have fun!

Finding The Perfect Ski Vacation Special

FILED IN Great Place No Comments

For ski enthusiasts, the only suitable vacation is one spent on the slopes. Vacationers will go to great lengths to find the perfect locale in which to celebrate the snow. With skis, boots, and poles in hand these vacation adventurers head off to spend their days doing what they love best.

But prior to arrival, the inevitable planning stages take place during which a myriad of details are addressed. And in order to best plan a trip that doesn’t break the bank, keep an eye out for the perfect ski vacation special.

With some thorough research and a little bit of patience you may find a ski vacation special that will allow you to experience the ski vacation of your dreams at a manageable price. The key to finding such a deal is staying flexible, knowing where to look, and keeping your eyes open at all times.

One of the most popular ways in which travelers find a ski vacation special is through the Internet where a host of online services offer competitive travel deals. The trick to nabbing a really spectacular ski vacation special is staying tuned in to the ongoing offerings of these specific websites at all times – join their mailing list, request price alerts for when particular locations go on sale, and check back often. If you are vigilant, you can get in on rock bottom prices before the general public is even aware of the sales.

A ski vacation special can also be obtained by more traditional methods such as working with a travel agent who can best navigate the industry and find the better deals; taking advantage of deals offered for those who book early; and comparison pricing between resorts.

Another way that you can acquire a ski vacation special is by booking your trip as a group. Group rates on airfare, accommodations, and ski passes can save you quite a bit of money so gather like-minded friends together and plan your trip!

A ski vacation special can be just what you need to stay within your budget guidelines while still enjoying the trip of a lifetime.

Planning a Family Ski Vacation

FILED IN Great Place No Comments

It’s time to plan the family vacation – and everyone wants to go skiing. Don’t worry, skiing isn’t as expensive as you might think, and there are numerous resorts that cater to families, offering a variety of packages designed to save you money. The problem will be choosing the destination.

Most ski resorts have websites. Start the planning process by accessing these websites to determine where you and your family might want to go for your family ski vacation. There are many different things to look for when choosing a resort. The absolute most important thing to look for is a ski school if someone in your family will need instruction. While most resorts do have ski schools, some don’t. Don’t make the mistake of choosing a destination where one or more of your family members won’t have fun, simply because they don’t know how to ski.

Next, take a look at the slopes, lifts, and trails. You want to make sure that the resort has something to offer everyone in your family. If the resort only caters to beginners, an expert skier will become quickly bored. If you have a snowboarder in your group, and there is no snowboarding park or terrain, that snowboarder will not be happy. There are resorts that serve all winter sports – so make sure that your families interests are covered.

Lodging is the next thing to look at. You want to be comfortable, so where you will sleep at night matters a great deal. In most cases, there is a hotel right at the base of the slopes – but this isn’t necessarily the best or most affordable place to stay. Find out what your lodging options are for the area, and choose the one that is right for your family and your budget. If you will be staying farther away from the slopes, make sure that there is transportation to and from the slopes each day!

Your family will have many more interests that you will need to search for before deciding on a particular destination and resort. Some of those interests may be dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or horseback riding. Resorts do offer these activities, but some don’t – so be sure to ask about the winter activities, as well as the planned events during the time that you will be at the resort. This will help you plan a ski vacation that your family will enjoy and remember for the rest of their lives.
