Skiing this winter in picturesque region of Zell am See!

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

One of the top destinations this winter to go skiing has to be Zell am See. A town resort located in the state of Salzburg, in the western region of Austria, and nested in the Alps.

Indeed the city is right at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, and in the proximity Schmittenhöhe, and Maiskogel, which are covered in snow all year round, and that is because this glacier stand over 3000 meters above sea level. This scenery represents thus the perfect place to get your skis and boards out and tackle the slopes this winter as well as this summer.

On the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, you’ll be able to take advantage of 138 kilometres of pistes, of which 22 are considered to be blue or green, in terms of difficulty, 16 are red and the remaining three are black and designed to satisfy the more savvy skiers and boarders, for who skiing has become like second nature. If you are one of those experts, you’ll be able to enjoy an extra 25 kilometres of black pistes on the Schmittenhöhe, as well as 5 free ride routes, of which three are new. To take you to the pistes, you’ll be taking the highest cable car in the world, suspended at a height of about 114m. You are now in possession of the main ingredients for the perfect skiing holiday. All that is left to do now  is to get there and experience this little haven of peace and natural beauty.

The opening winter season really starts in earnest in October and carries on until mid April. But because of Zell am See’s position at the foot of a glacier, it becomes hard to talk about skiing season, since the latter is constantly covered in snow thus offering the possibility to engage in the practice of some winter sports even in the very hot summer months. For when you are down in the valley and by the Zeller See lake, the weather is that of the continental type, meaning that during the months of July and August, the temperature can go quite high, above 30 Celsius,

Isn’t it amazing to be able to ski whenever you want?  And you won’t find any other place in Austria that will offer you that same luxury. It is therefore vital that you book your holiday and hotels in advance, to ensure that you will be on the slopes this summer or winter, for I predict some very busy seasons ahead in Zell am See. And the perfect place to do so would be http://www.mountvacation.com/en/austria/zell-am-see-kaprun/.

What Do you Want? Do you Know? This Months Coaching Tips for you and your Family, to Help you Decide What you Want!

FILED IN Ski Stuff No Comments

One of the biggest and most important steps in the Law of Attraction is knowing what you want. Do you know? Does your family know? Some people have a hard time figuring out what it is they really want. We tend to know what we don’t want…but not what we do want.

For example, I know I don’t want to fall down and crack my head, but when I think that way how do I act? I walk differently, more timidly, cautiously, and the next thing you know I fall and crack my….well, OK maybe not crack my head…..but I might at least bruise myself! So, I need to turn that thought into a positive instead of “don’t want to”, I want to be safe, confident and secure. Wow, now I’m walking totally differently and am much less likely to actually fall.

When I’m skiing I used to think like this a lot….and I ski completely differently when I think “I don’t want to fall and get hurt….and end up in the hospital, and need to get surgery, and then not be able to exercise, and not be able to ski, and then I’ll be lazy and gain weight and, and, and….can you see where my mind can go if I let it? That’s a lot of thinking for just going down a mountain. Man, I’m exhausted and I’m just sitting at my computer! Anyway, when I think I don’t want to fall, I ski like a complete dork, I can even get myself to start snow plowing on an expert slope, which is very dangerous and could lead to me falling and actually cracking my head. So, I change my thinking and enjoy the ride. What a rush! I am now attracting more confident, safe, and secure thoughts, which makes the whole day a blast. I leave the slopes pumped up and feeling like an amazing skier, which sounds a heck of a lot better then either crying on the slopes (which I have done) or going back to town in an ambulance. If you aren’t a skier and can’t relate to this analogy, fill in the blank with something that can be scary for you at times. Doesn’t it work the same way for that too?

We, and when I say we I mean humans, tend to go to negative statements. The “I don’t want to…”. Watch your words, can you find that in yourself? I know I can. It’s something I am constantly trying to work on, especially with kids. Here are a few steps to take to figure out what you really want and how to ask for it. If you reprogram your language, your thought patterns will follow along.

Step 1: Complaining Time!

That’s right, let them rip! I want you to complain, on paper, about everything you can think of to complain about. Here are a few topics to write (complain) about.

1. Money

2. Relationships

3. Family

4. Work

5. Your body

6. Your health

7. Free time

8 The Government

9. World matters

Etc………

If you can complain about it, write it down. That is the thinking that brings you more of it! The complaining is not going to be an everyday or every moment thing. This is just an exercise, so don’t go home and say “I’m supposed to complain, Loren the Life Coach told me to.” After you are done with this exercise I want you to stop complaining as much as possible, so get it out now, while you can.

Step 2: Write down what you don’t want, related to all of your complaints.

For example, if my complaint was, “I am so sick and tired of being tired!” Then, my I don’t want statement would be, “I don’t want to be tired.” For every complaint you wrote write an “I don’t want” statement.

Step 3: Turn them around!

Take your “I don’t” statements and turn them around into the opposite. Example, my “I don’t want to be tired” statement turned into the opposite, which is “I want to have energy” or “I want to be energetic”. Write it down and then turn it around!

Step 4: You already have it!

This is the last step. Take your “I want,” statements and turn them into an

“I am” or “I have” statement. Coming from the space of already having it, is an abundant mind set, which will have you actually having it in no time. If you already feel like you have it, just the way you want it, you will act differently. You will be abundant and powerful. For example, “I want to be energized”, turns into “I am energized!” Now, doesn’t that sound more powerful? Wow, I am energized! I have enough energy to do everything I want to do and more. When I start thinking this way and feeling affirmative, I become energized. Just writing this article right at this moment, I now feel like I do have energy to do anything, and if that fades I will remind myself that I am energized and have energy.

Finish these steps with every statement on your list and read and feel like you already have them. Every night before bed and every morning when you wake up state those positive “I have” statements and watch the life that you always dreamed of unfold. You can try this activity with your family and see what everybody is truly wanting.

Well, I’m off to climb El Capitan now with all of my extra energy! Good luck to you all and happy attracting.

***As a side note: After writing this article and working on my energy statement, I truly did have a lot of extra energy…..I couldn’t even fall asleep last night, and got a lot of work done because of it. Last night I was up till midnight being productive. Wow! This stuff really works, so give it a go!

How to Protect Your Investments This Holiday Season

FILED IN Ski Stuff No Comments

Don’t panic but Christmas is around the corner. It’s always hard to try and find that perfect gift for someone special. What to buy for little Billy, his teenage sister, Mother in the nursing home? It is quite the challenge every year. It is also difficult to find something special for someone who has everything - how do you find something that no one else would have thought of or that they haven’t already got? Things to bear in mind when trying to find the perfect gift for that special person is trying to think about their favorite hobbies. Are they in to any particular sport or like reading particular books or listening to certain types of music? Do they take riding lessons or play hockey or maybe they enjoy skiing? Whatever their interests are - somehow we manage to pull it all together and when opening their packages on Christmas, they all seem very content with their new gadgets and clothing.

But maybe not for long. Lots of the kid’s stuff such as iPods, gloves, boots etc. gets lost at school and you’re starting to realize you need to come up with a plan to avoid having to replace all your investments again. How about Mother’s new sweater, will it come back from the laundry at the senior home? Imagine the staff trying to remember if Edna’s Christmas sweater was pink or white. Riding helmets, snowboards, hockey sticks – they all look the same. How do we avoid losing our precious belongings? Well – you need to label them of course. Personalized name labels with first and last name works wonders in the school environment. Name and room number is a blessing at the senior home and name and phone number in the helmet guaranties a speedy return to it’s owner. So protect your investments this Christmas knowing that everything that goes out that door will return.

You’re About To Discover The Best Places to Go to Find Cheap Ski Holidays This Winter

FILED IN Ski Stuff No Comments

When doing the research for this piece, I found a ski holiday business that offers just what you are after. If you are young and laid back, this would be the cheapest method of arranging your ski holiday.

Just to put you in the picture I run my own site selling catered chalet holidays, but what I’ve found now are a lot cheaper and may be advertising them shortly! But let’s get on.

Thirty years ago I was employed by a company which sold cheap ski holidays. Diamond Ski (not their real name!) really were great value. Their prices may have gone up now but they still do great ski deals. I know because I worked for them. Well I didn’t truthfully work for them. they paid me to have a rollocking winter in the mountains at the punters’ expense.

For a salary of £50 a week, free board and lodging, a lift pass and free transport, I lived the life and the punters paid. What the punters paid for was the cheapest possible service – draughty old chalets at rock bottom rents high on the hillsides and a hundred steps to clamber up with their bags a welcome from a toothy bimbette who was only in the resort to score as many young men as she could, and a ride in a battered old banger that rattled and smoked its way up from Geneva Airport As well as being a taxi driver part of the job involved taking them skiing – if we felt like it.

This may seem like a red herring but it isn’t – this is what to expect on a cheap holiday. What you pay is what you get – just the absolute minimum with nothing added unless you want to pay for it, just like that no frills airline which shall be nameless. You are unlikely to get more than you pay for, but sometimes there are cheap deals to be found with a good cheap ski holiday.

For some of the best late deals in French Ski Resorts type in ‘Cheap Ski Holidays France’ as a Google search.

There is no way you are going to spend as little on a ski holiday as a summer beach vacation – I’ve just found a late summer deal to Crete for £218 leaving next week (I haven’t gone for it yet). The stuff you have to buy to go skiing bear little relation to a g-string.. The only bits of ski wear that double up on the snow or beach are the sun glasses and sun cream, and if you are a fashionista with fair ski, then you will be getting stronger versions of these too.

Discounting the ski clothes that can be spread across a few years, you now have to arrange the travel, board and lodging and food, ski equipment hire, lift pass, ski lessons and insurance. How much is that going to be? Choose a typical ski resort in France like Meribel. The cheapest I can find is the first week in January for £318, which includes flight and accommodation only All the other necessaries I’ve mentioned above is going to cost at least £450 on top of that, which comes to around £750 – a lot more than a summer holiday.

So what’s the bottom line from here? Last season my son found the best deal available. Action Outdoors is the name on the tin. A basic, all inclusive holiday during January is going to cost you just £467, but that’s pared right down. You get what you pay for All in my son spent £600 and had a spiffing time skiing on the best snow ever – he worked out he’d spent about £130 on alcohol and the nightlife, which I considererd was good going.

Take a Ski Holiday in Turin this Winter

FILED IN Great Place No Comments

Turin is a great place for a Ski holiday. There are a lot of Ski resorts near Turin along with some of the best slopes to ski on. You can get to famous ski resorts within an hour of landing at the airport and there are more resorts as you move further away from the airport.

There is the valle di Susa which is just forty five minutes from the airport. You can ski to your heart’s content at this place and also do some sight seeing on the side. There’s plenty to see along the slopes and there’s also a guided tour if you are interested. The nightlife around here is excellent.

Located about an hour’s journey from the airport is the Ski Sauze d’Ouix region. You will be skiing in the famous Vialattea region of Italy. It usually has great snow and is also part of the Milky Way stretch of the Vialattea. There’s over four hundred kilometres of slopes to ski on meaning you will never run out of space. Sauze d’Ouix is a quaint and traditional village that makes for the perfect place to get you started on your ski trip.

There is also San Sicario, which gives you a full reign over the Milky Way stretch. The Milky Way covers one hundred and forty five runs which ensures that you have great variety to choose from. The resort offers great deals to snowboarders and skiers.

Many people who travel to Turin on a ski holiday take up the option of a car hire Turin service at the airport. Make sure to choose the right hire car particularly if you are bringing a lot of ski gear with you. Comfort is an issue often overlooked in favour of price. Consider the options available taking into account the number of passengers and their individual needs.

Ski Sestri? is another place where you can get in some great skiing action. It sits in between a high up purpose-built Alpine village. This has over four hundred kilometres of pistes for snowboarding and skiing and is a great place for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. There are also areas where advanced skiers can go to for more challenging slopes. This resort is situated about one hundred kilometers from Turin International airport. It was the place where the 2006 winter Olympics were held.

Another great resort is the Ski Clavi?, which has over three hundred and seventy pistes. It is located near the French border and has a peaceful traditional Alpine village setting. It is connected to the neighboring Montgen?e in France and has beautiful slopes to ski on. It offers easy access to both Turin International Airport and the Geneva Airport. It is chosen by most for its easy to reach location and the fantastic skiing experience it provides.

This is Why Water Skiing is Such an Exciting Sport

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

Skiing is one of the most exciting sports. Water skiing is one of the types of skiing. Water skiing involves pulling a person along on the water with the help of a motor boat. The skier holds the tow rope and skis or skims on the surface of the water by standing upright and balancing himself on his skis.

Water skiing originated in the year 1922. Ralph Samuelson who used a clothesline to strap his feet to the boards and rigging himself to the boat did the first water skiing. He performed this feat on Lake Pepin in Minnesota.

Among women, the first person who water-skied was Katherine Lomerson of Michigan in the year 1924. Water skiing is very exciting and exhilarating and starts with something called a “deep water start”. Skiers usually have to crouch on the surface of the water. Their knees have to be bent and the arms have to be kept straight. The tips of the skis have to be pointing upwards and the rope has to be positioned in between the skis.

When the skier is ready for takeoff, the boat moves forward with force. This enables the skier to move forward out of the water. Apart from the driver and the skier, water skiing sport involves another person, a third person or observer. He has to observe the skier carefully. In case of a fall or accident, the driver has to be informed so that he can slow down or stop to get the skier back to his feet.

Skier usually uses hand signals to exchange messages. Signals include the thumbs up and thumbs down signals, which signify, go faster and slow down respectively.

In the year 1940 ,Jack Anderson designed the trick ski. Trick ski is a short water ski which is without fins. In order to decide on how you are going to balance on your ski, or which foot you are going to put forward there are certain things you have to do.

The falling test is one of them. This involves standing on the skis with closed eyes and feet together. You must be pushed forward gently from the back. You will find that one of your foot will automatically go forward to try and balance and that is the foot you will have to foot forward for water skiing.

The pants test is to notice the foot put into the pant first by the skier and putting that foot forward on your skis.

The demo test involves trying out water skiing with both legs one by one and checking to see which foot forward is most comfortable for you.

The ski test can be gone through with the help of your ski instructor. The instructor makes the novice use combo skis. Lifting one ski up about six to twelve inches for duration of two seconds and with their ankle stretched up the skier has to use alternately his left and right ski for duration of about six minutes.

The ski handle has to be kept at the level of the hip and the skier’s chin has to be pointed upwards. This will definitely enable the skier to identify the leg that he is most comfortable with putting forward and balancing. While water skiing on a single ski, he can use this leg forward for balancing purposes.
