How We Display Heli-Skiing And Pivotal People Involved

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

A lot just like Rolex, Ducati, and Grey Goose rule the roost in their respective industries, heli skiing is actually the golden boy; the gold standard; the place to become observed when skiing or even snowboarding is usually your pursuit of selection. Hollywood’s videos have generally ventured into the mountains in pursuit of glitz and glamour. James Bond even throws about the boards once in a while, and generally ends up parachuting off numerous monstrous precipice, something the late Shane McConkey took towards the real world in fine style.

Yes, each and every time that mankind continues to head into the mountains, somebody could follow them with camera and notepad in hand. Fortunately for heliski lodges, they’re usually ideally situated to serve as gateways for these people, and as a result, see a good deal of visitors via their doors.
So next time you happen to catch a glimpse from the latest Matchstick film, or even head downtown for the fresh Warren Miller release, think from the fact that even though you may not necessarily be able to rip just like the men and women caught on camera, you’ll still be skiing in the same mountain ranges, all thanks to a man named Hans Gmoser, and his gift of heli skiing to the world.

Such as pretty much almost everything in this globe (communication, travel, manufacturing, etc), sport, and extra specifically ski gear, has changed enormously over the past five, ten, thirty years.
From the lace up leather boots and eight-foot lengthy wooden boards of yesteryear, via to the variable flex, carbon composite skis with integral bindings mated to heated ski boots custom built and decorated for each and each and every buyer, the ski business has observed a lot more changes than the British Royal Guard.

But where did it all come from? Answer: heli skiing, and the have to float. In this regard (and most skiers would say simply this regard), snowboarders have it better than skiers. Surfing powder on a big-mountain board is a lot akin to wave-surfing, and leaves the rider with that easy-going “I got it going on and life is actually simply alright” type of experiencing.

We can simply imagine precisely what path the Heli Skiing industry is going to take subsequent. The consumer is going to ultimately figure out the further development from the fat ski, especially in this newfound world of third-party on the internet product reviews. Precisely what is actually certain, is usually that as lengthy as being the snow continues to fall as well as the helicopters continue to fly, men and women is going to want to ski the deepest powder they can discover, and use the best possible equipment to do so.

Snow Cat Boarding Anyone?

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

During recent history we have been presented with a lot of new discoveries which have managed to really change our lives. The internet and hybrid cars have improved the way we travel and communicate but in terms of sports that anyone can practice, nothing seems to beat BC cat skiing. Mountain lovers from all over the world head to Canada every year to live life on the edge by riding portions of the mountain with fresh and untouched snow. Even those interested in riding boards down the mountain are now becoming interested in snow cat boarding because it is just as much fun as BC cat skiing. There are of course many other countries where you can go snow cat boarding but there is none really as spectacular and welcoming as Canada. This is why during the height of the season it is virtually impossible to find a mountain lodge spa with openings for you and your friends. Many would think that just because they are about to stay in a remote and isolated mountain region they will be most likely lacking all the commodities they have grown accustomed to but the reality is that a mountain lodge spa is really a common thing to find whenever you are planning a BC cat skiing or a snow cat boarding excursion. Snow cat boarding is nothing like going to a regular mountain resort where you have to climb up the mountain for considerable distances and then ride those dreadful ski chairs. When you go on a snow cat boarding or BC cat skiing trip, apart from all the luxuries that will be waiting for you at the mountain lodge spa, you will be able to take full advantage of the comfort and speed provided by the means of transportations supplied by the service providers, and which in most cases include snow cats and helicopters. Again finding vacancies at a mountain lodge spa for your snow cat boarding vacation could be pretty hard so it is always a great idea to start looking earlier. If there are two things you can absolutely be sure whenever you are heading to a mountain lodge spa for a BC cat skiing experience, these are most likely a great and thrilling experience and the fact that you won’t have to always watch out for beginners. With all the advances used nowadays safety is covered in a large proportion and while there is always a certain amount of risk associated with this sport, you can still have a fantastic time if you have the courage necessary to ride down a portion of the mountain without any indicators. A good physical condition is a must for anyone intending to go on a snow cat boarding trip simply because it is a bit more challenging than the regular form of this sport. If you are convinced and want to try out this great adventure during your next holiday then you really only need to find a nice company that specializes in offering these services and that welcomes its customers with a nice mountain lodge spa.

BC Cat Skiing Benefits

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

For winter sports fans looking to spice up their backcountry skiing experience in the picturesque region of British Columbia, a sound idea would be to opt for a quality snowcat skiing operator and get a taste of Canada’s finest selection of untamed ski circuits. BC cat skiing operators can accommodate to groups of either skiers or snowboarders, taking them to virgin mountain territories that ensure both a skiing and snowboarding challenge and an invigorating adventure in the heart of nature. Compared to heli skiing, snowcat boarding and skiing have the major advantage of being sensibly more affordable, with an average price of about $500 a day for an all-inclusive package of services per guest. Another benefit that BC cat skiing and boarding have over their airborne ride alternative consists in reduced downtimes due to impracticable meteorological conditions. While snowcats are indeed the slower and less exciting way of reaching your destination, they fully compensate in terms of reliability, comfort, and not to mention safety. Additionally, thanks to the extra storage space and less restrictive weight considerations, these lumbering machines enable groups of skiers to pack more equipment. BC cat skiing services have the reputation of being highly dedicated to the client, with some operators even striving to customize each trip according to groups’ powder skiing experience levels, fitness condition, as well as skiing and snowboarding preferences. Apart from taking you to amazing skiing slopes that would make any winter sports fanatic jealous, the seasoned cat skiing guides will also cater to your safety, comfort, fun and excitement, helping you get the most out of your powder catskiing adventure. Although BC cat skiing is generally limited to less wider areas as opposed to heli skiing, with a good selection of quality ski circuits that matches your level of powder skiing experience, there’s no chance you’ll ever become bored out there. All it takes to ensure a memorable snowcat boarding or cat skiing experience in a breathtaking and wild mountain landscape is to choose the right company and plan your trip wisely, taking into account things like accessibility and quality of skiing areas, weather conditions, lodging options, overall duration of the stay, and finally yet importantly, the total underlying costs. With proper planning and the help of a competitive BC cat skiing company, chances are you will be in for the powder skiing experience of a lifetime!

The Exhilaration of Skiing the Slopes

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

You’ve been there. You know you need more exercise and you are going to do it this time. You will have no more failed attempts to get yourself in shape. But you still must choose the form of exercise to do. You think to yourself that it would be nice to have a program that can be done inside or outside and year-round. Besides that, you would like a program that does not wear you out but will still work all muscles the in your body.

But wait! This sounds just like skiing! Not only that, there are also many types of skiing. You’ve seen it: folks riding a chairlift, hopping off, turning and gliding downhill. They’re all bundled up in their ski outfits. Some crash and tumble one or more times before they reach the bottom. Their skis are raised cockeyed and their face is blasted by a freezing wind.

The downhill skier is the one that mostly comes to mind when someone mentions skiing. The most popular places we hear of where the world travelers and famous people ski are The Alps, Aspen, Telluride and others.

We all are excited that skiing has become a wide open sport that many folks can enjoy all year and benefit from it physically too. It is a beautiful sport to keep your heart healthy.

These ski areas usually have chairlifts that lift you to the top to descend down extreme and not too extreme slopes. Snow can either be actual or man-made. No need to worry about getting cold as you will get warm as your activity increases.

The sport is rather easy once you get used to it. However day one is no walk in the park. Do not be surprised if you tumble quite often. It would be wise to take ski lessons and do not be surprised if you find downhill skiing to be rather expensive. When estimating the cost of a ski trip, one must consider the price of lift tickets, costs for ski site trips, renting or buying the skis, and the ski clothing costs along with sunglasses. However you probably won’t mind the cost once you experience the thrills and fun of skiing – all after you learn to ski of course.

Maybe you would prefer cross-country skiing. This is much more strenuous then with downhill skiing. You have no assistance outside of your own in this type of skiing. You cannot get uphill by a chairlift because there are none. However you probably will not tumble down mountains as steep as with downhill skiing. The cost is much lower compared to downhill skiing. You can obtain trail passes and rent the skis at much lower prices. More than likely you will not need any lessons and if you do they will not cost as much as downhill skiing lessons either.

A type of cross-country skiing that needs a different sort of skis is known as “skate.” While skis make this type of skiing much easier, you can also “skate” with traditional skates. You gain speed by doing the same actual movements as those of ice skating. The learning curve is not too steep however you must realize that it is tougher than with traditional cross-country skiing and much more physically challenging. You also need trails broader than with cross-country in order to really enjoy this type of skiing.

Then for those who like thrills, there is a type of skiing in which you can fly into the air from jump slopes prepared exactly for doing just that. Your endurance and flexibility will be tested on this one. This type of skiing will definitely put a pinch on your finances just as will alpine skiing. Alpine skiing is a type of skiing that allows much faster runs with fewer twisted courses.

Snowboarding is known by the skier having one wide ski without poles and it reminds us of surfing. There is also a type known as ski boarding which has skis used without poles that are shorter and broader. The ski boarder experiences some of the same thrills as with in-line roller skating or ice skating. It is much easer to pick up this type of skiing than the traditional types because of a ski board’s maneuverability.

It is apparant that there is a type of skiing for everyone to enjoy. If you do not like to be in the cold then cross-country skiing is probably for you. If you like leaping into the air and hitting the slope with great impact and speed then ski jumping is probably for you. But be smart about it: invest in some lessons.

Fun in the Snow with Skiing

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

You’ve made up your mind. You’ve resolved (maybe again) to get more exercise. All that’s left is deciding what to choose. What if you wanted something you can do either indoors or outdoors, in any season, at nearly any time, and provides an all-over “workout” without feeling like you’ve done any work?

Think a minute: This easily describes several of the different types of the surprisingly varied world of snow skiing. The image most people think of is standard: You get on a chairlift, drop off easily, and ski down the slopes. You’re wearing heavy, cold-weather gear and usually topple over once or twice on the way down, skis askew in the air, the biting chill of the wind hitting your face.

Thankfully, the world of snow skiing has broadened widely and has become a year-round enjoyment for millions — while also providing an excellent source of cardiovascular exercise.

Downhill, or classical, skiing, is the picture-postcard most of us think of when we hear the word “skiing.” It usually involves places like The Alps, Aspen, Telluride, or just about anywhere most jet-setters and celebrities frequent.

This is the one that involves a chairlift, and skiing down often-steep slopes. There is either real snow or manufactured snow, and you will get cold, but you’ll warm up once you get going.

The sport is not too difficult once you get the hang of it, but it definitely will not be easy the first day you try. Actually, you can expect to fall down many times. Lessons are usually a good idea, and this type is skiing is going to be expensive. Lift ticket prices, travel to and from ski sites, ski rentals or purchase, and appro-priate wear, including sunglasses, are going to cost you more financially, but the results can be exhilarating and quite fun — again, once you catch on.

Next, there’s cross-country skiing. Admittedly, this is going to be physically challenging to most people. Here’s where you do all the work yourself. There are no chairlifts to bring you up the hills, and you must ski up on your own. But, on the flip side, you won’t careen down mountains near as steep as the ones in downhill skiing, and it’s much more affordable than downhill ski-ing. Trail passes and ski rentals are relatively inex-pensive, and you probably can teach yourself — hence, no lessons!

“Skate” cross-country skiing is another form of cross-country skiing that requires slightly different skis. You can actually “skate” with regular, classical skates, but skis do make it easier. You can pick up speed by simu-lating the physical motions of ice skating. It’s not too difficult to pick up skate cross-country, but it is harder than classical cross country skiing, and requires more physical endurance. It is also helpful to have clear and wider trails for this to be truly enjoyable.

If you’re really the adventurous type, the ski jump, in which you leap from specially prepared jump slopes, will definitely test your stamina and maneuverability. Note that this will also test your checkbook balance, as well as alpine skiing, which has fewer twisted courses that permit much faster speeds, but again, it will have a more pronounced affect on your bank balance than the other types of snow skiing.

Snowboarding involves a single wide ski, or snowboard, no poles, and is similar to surfing. Ski experts have also now come up with ski boarding, which employs shorter and wider skis that are generally used without poles. Ski boarding also offers the skier some of the sensa-tions of ice skating or in-line roller skating. It is usually easier to learn than classical skiing, largely because ski boards are simply more “handle-friendly.”

With the comprehensive, attractive array of skiing methods out there today, there’s something in it for everyone. Can’t stand the cold? Try cross-country. Love the idea of bounding from a slope onto hard, impacted snow and hitting the ground hard and fast? Simple. Take up ski jumping. But please — take lessons first!

Ski goggles?unregretful choices for skiers

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

It is a very common occasion on the TV or movie that heroes and heroines with ski goggles are skiing in the snowfield. Such scenes have attracted many people looking forward to doing these sports with very cool ski sunglasses. As for any skier, in addition to ski board, a pair of ski goggle is also essential.

The foremost important function of ski goggles is to protect the security of wearers. The reason why skiers wore ski goggles is that these goggles can ascertain that they will not be injured when skiing. First, ski goggles can help people not to be frozen, for the climate for skiing is always very cold. Second, ski goggles can protect wearers from being injured by external forces. Because skiers will move very fast, and if some accidents occur, these goggles can protect their heads. Third, ski goggles can protect people’s eyes. It is very common that any one may get snow blind if he does not wear ski goggles. For the glares reflected by the snow may cause blindness. Moreover, other radiations, as UV-A, B, C, are also harmful for people’s eyes. And ski goggles can almost filter out all such harmful rays.

Of course, with the development of technologies and the fashion trend, more functions can be found in ski goggles. Such as, the latest ski goggles with earphones are very popular among skiers, especially those young people.

Generally, the present ski goggles are lightweight. Such lightness can assure that wearers can enjoy the comfort of wearing while skiing. Without any burden, wearers can take part in sports as much as they like with ski goggles.

On point deserves to be noticed is that if one is a glasses wearer, he should take his glasses to the ski goggles store. Therefore, opticians can prescribe the most suitable prescription ski goggle for you.

Skiing – Some Of The World’s Best Ski Spots

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

Many of us have had holidays spent breathing recycled air in “luxury” coaches, watching bad television in hotel rooms, eating beyond our capacity simply because meals were included in the “package” and there was little else to do. Yawn! But not if there’s snow on the ground; don the long johns and get at it . 1. Austria: skiing for amateurs – So maybe you’re not the athletic type. You don’t have to be to take advantage of the world’s best sporting havens, particularly if you take a few professional lessons. St. Anton, in the Arlberg region of Austria, is the best place to go for ski instruction-the Arlberg School ski technique originated here and the area’s 300+ instructors are all well-versed in the method. In the hands of these pros, you’ll look like an expert after a few days on the slopes. 2. Chile’s best skiing for mamas’ boys (sorry.we mean “cautious athletic types”) – If you’ve got nothing to prove and just want some sane, safe skiing, La Parva, located just minutes from Santiago, allows you to ski heli ski from your lodge to the lifts. If you’re afraid of getting hurled into a tree, there’s no need to worry here: the mountains are treeless. The slopes also have wind-curled cornices, so snowboarders can afford to try out a few new stunts. This is also a perfect spot to try heli-skiing in a friendly, nurturing environment. 3. Ski Whistler Blackcomb before the next Olympians do! When it comes to skiing and riding, Whistler Blackcomb with its 8,000 plus acres of terrain on both mountains, has variety and then some. Choose from steeps, deeps, chutes, high alpine bowls, glades, superb corduroy, long cruisers and gentle rollers. Riders and skiers will revel in the Parks and Pipes on both mountains plus natural launch pads, hits, wind-lips, cornices, cliff drops and ridges – the place is like a huge, natural terrain park! And the night-life is great too! This is the site of the next Winter Olympics. 4. World-class cat skiing for coupon clippers…in the Italian Alps – Sure, you’d love to go on a ritzy ski holiday but you’re – well, how can we put this? …broke. No worries. We appreciate a good bargain ourselves and have found that the deals in life are often a mere stone’s throw away from the pricey stuff. Such is the case in the Italian Alps: Mount Livata and Pescasseroli are located very near Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy’s most popular resort, but offer affordable accommodation and similar access to facilities. Same goes for Val d’Ayas, which is located near pricey Courmayeur and Cervinia and offers lower lift prices, more challenging runs and fewer crowds. 5. And if that’s not cheap enough, there’s skiing in Spain – You can ski in Spain on a busker’s budget. While there is a certain aura about the Alps resorts in France, Austria, Italy and Switzerland, the Spanish Pyrenees area keeps up with the best of them (and certainly surpasses them with respect to value.) Baquiera-Beret, in Lerida, boasts a lengthy ski season (November through April), numerous slopes of varying difficulty, plenty of chair lifts, professional ski instruction and – this is the best part – far fewer crowds than the pricier resorts. A good place to stay is Hotel Montarto which offers spectacular views and easy access to lifts. 6. If you think you’re a good skiier, try heli-skiing in the Purcells in British Columbia – Rk Heliski in Golden, welcomes you to 1,500 square kilometres/ 930 sq. miles of incredible terrain in the spectacular Purcell Mountains, on the edge of the legendary Bugaboos. Snowcat skiing/boarding tours are led by some of the world’s best mountain guides to access wide open alpine slopes, scenic glaciers and gladed forests dusted with annual snowfalls of up to 1,100 cm/36 feet. Some of this is extreme skiing, definitely not for the novice, but hey, who wants to live forever? 7. Austria’s least-known sport that’ll make you feel like a kid again – Austria’s Lake District boasts excellent ice-skating and skiing during the winter as well as water sports during the summer. The area around Wolfgangsee offers a little-known sport that’ll take you right back to your childhood. Mountain tobogganing involves carting a metal saucer-of-a-thing up a hillside (we recommend the chair lift as opposed to a hike) and descending on a metal track to the bottom. It’ll be the most invigorating five minutes of your life. Next step? Do it again! 8. And after lots of lessons and a stiff drink…Canadian daredevil’s dream – Canada’s ski-jump champs practice in Thunder Bay, Ontario, regarded as the world’s biggest jump. You’ve seen the Bond films – now it’s your turn. Mind you, there are also cross-country trails for beginners if you need to get up your confidence. The area includes four major Alpine areas. Daily flight service can be arranged from Toronto, Winnipeg and Minneapolis. This place can be crowded during peak season–who knew there were so many daredevils around?

The Snow Boarding Business I Started

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

I have my own snow boarding business and I have had this for around 1 year now. I used to be a management consultant before I decided to take the plunge and went for a business of my own. Before I done this I was very nervous and really had no idea about the level of results that I was going to attain. The fact of the matter is that around 20% of businesses fail in their first year, and I did not want to be one of those business owners that were left having no results, and a heap of debt to handle.

Luckily enough my business has been successful so far, and this has largely been down to operating in an area of high demand, where I am the only supplier in my area. You see, there are two local ski slopes and both of them have a lot of visitors each week, so I was aware that their was a demand in my local area for snow boarding equipment and skiing equipment. At first, I started off selling snow boarding equipment but I realised that I should start selling skiing equipment as well and this is a decision that I am glad to have made. Since I have started selling skiing equipment my sales have increased by 60%.
I now have four members of staff that I pay a good wage, and that are very loyal to my company. You see, the great thing is that all of them have an interest in snow boarding and skiing and this really comes through in the way they are able to help my customers make informed purchases.

I have a deal with the local ski slopes that when someone is a member of their slope they get a 10% discount on all purchases. This is something that I considered for a number of reasons. The first thing is that I didn’t want either of them starting their own shop on their premise, and I felt that through offering them something free they would be less likely to try and eat into my profits. I also felt that through doing this they would feel that the potential to enter into my market was less lucrative. I also have deals with them where I give them very cheap rates on their stocks, and in actual fact I make zero profit from the sales that I make to them. This gives them the impression that I have substantially better profit margins than they could attain, and puts them off competing.

Another way that I have had a certain level of success is through my online store. I had a website designed through which I sell all my lines to a global marketplace. Online I am competing with a lot of other websites that sell similar stuff to myself, but I am aiming to increase my websites position in the search engines, and by doing so I am hoping that I will be able to decrease my operating costs and increase my market reach. Already I am showing up at number 14 in google for snowboarding equipment and I am hoping to be on the first page for certain terms at some point this year. The thing is that when you have a high position in the search engines you can be sure to close a certain number of sales with no marketing outlay. There is also the issue that once you close a single sale with a customer they are more likely to return in future when they require further products that you sell within your range. I have also started to sell wholesale through a separate website and this has helped me in two ways. I am starting to increase my sales volume however at the same time I am decreasing my cost per unit to purchase through buying on a bigger scale. This is something that is offering my business growth potential, however my primary aim is to increase sales through my website at the moment.

Aquapalooza 2010, Austin TX, BRAD PAISLEY, Boating, Standup Paddle Boards, Hot Chicks

FILED IN Ski Boarding No Comments

http://standupconnection.com SATURDAY (7/10), ARISTA/NASHVILLE star BRAD PAISLEY headlined AQUAPALOOZA 2010 at THE RESERVE at LAKE TRAVIS near AUSTIN, TX. According to local officials, there were 65,000 to 70,000 fans and over 7,000 boats for the concert, breaking all previous attendance records and nearly doubling last year’s record setting event. Boats started arriving on MONDAY (7/5) for prime positioning for the concert. The event was hosted by SEA RAY BOATS and local dealer SAIL & SKI CENTER. PAISLEY played the two-hour concert on a stage at water’s edge, for fans that could only access the show by boat and some got closer to the stage with inner-tubes, blow-up boats, surf boards and other flotation devices. With a 100-foot thrust perched on floats, PAISLEY was able to walk out into the midst of thousands of fans on water.

AquaPalooza is a multi-location boating festival, sponsored by Sea Ray boats. It is promoted as “The World’s Largest Boat Party” and claims to attract over 12,000 boats to 100 locations mostly around the United States, but also in several international locations.

Paddle boards were seen at AquaPalooza a lot because of SUP ATX and the fact that there was a ton of drinking going on and I am sure not everyone got out of the water to use the bathroom when they needed to go. Being on top of a SUP would be less toxic for sure.

I have to think that one of the reasons that SUP (Standup Paddle Boarding) is growing so fast is that you can be mobile on top of the water in almost any situation. If you are looking to paddle around or you are looking to go to extremes by surfing or getting pulled behind a boat and everything in between. As long as you take a couple of lessons you can be up and playing around in less than an hour.
